i really wanted to miss my plane back home.

i wished for a raging storm. i wished for more air traffic. i wish i held you longer by your car. i wish i didn't say goodbye so soon. i wish i picked the slowwww non-expert traveler line at the security checkpoint. i wish i stood behind the family of noob tourists. i wish i took my jacket and boots off slower. I wish i missed boarding time. i wish my seniority date wasn't so senior. i wish they didn't give me the very last seat. i wish i wasn't the very last person to board the plane. i wished for further delays which would push that flight far into the evening and eventually towards cancellation.

but i'm here at my house. and my full-sized bed is much too large and cold and vast and empty without you here.
